My mum was dead (she’s been dead 13 years) but laid out on a table and I could just ball my eyes out and hug her. My father also was notified and came and hugged me even tho we aren’t speaking (we haven’t for like 2 years over money he won’t speak to me). There were other people there but I don’t remember much of that. I was 10 when she died. My father has always been abusive, narcissistic, selfish, he has undiagnosed problems he doesn’t believe in. He won’t help himself. He’s an alcoholic and a drug addict to weed. My mother was a quadriplegic from the age of 19 when she was on the back of a motorcycle with her then boyfriend who died when they hit the stobie pole. She died from pneumonia, respiratory failure type 2 and the quadriplegia. My father never let me grieve properly or get the help. I was also undiagnosed with so many disabilities and health issues. I only got diagnosed with 95% of them as an adult when I could try fight for myself.
Your dream is rich with emotional and psychological layers, reflecting deep unresolved issues, grief, and a desire for connection and healing. Let's break down the various elements and interpret what they might signify:
Your Deceased Mother: Seeing your mother laid out on a table and feeling the urge to cry and hug her suggests a longing for comfort, closure, and perhaps the emotional support you missed while growing up. Her presence signifies unresolved grief and the need to process the loss, as you mentioned not being allowed to grieve properly. Hugging her symbolizes a deep yearning for emotional closeness and healing from past wounds tied to her loss.
Your Father’s Presence: Despite your current estrangement, your father coming into the dream to hug you represents a complex blend of unresolved feelings. The hug might symbolize a deep-seated desire for reconciliation, understanding, or forgiveness, despite the pain and betrayal caused by his behavior. Dreams often create scenarios where we confront difficult relationships in ways that are impossible or unlikely in real life, perhaps indicating unresolved issues or a subconscious wish for peace.
Crying and Emotional Release: In dreams, crying can be a powerful symbol of catharsis and release. It signifies the emotions that you may be suppressing in your waking life. This release is crucial for processing past trauma and starting the healing process.
Other People in the Background: These unidentified individuals might symbolize the external pressures, societal norms, or simply the other players and factors in your life's story. They might represent the peripheral influences or the support systems you have felt were distant or unremembered, much like how you're piecing together your own life’s narrative post-awareness of your conditions and familial challenges.
Connection to Real Life Experiences: You're dealing with a lot of real-life issues as reflected in your dream: unresolved grief, complicated family dynamics, and an ongoing healing journey. This dream highlights the need for emotional release and perhaps reaching out for external support, such as therapy or support groups, to help reconcile these elements of your life.
Desire for Reconciliation: Despite the pain, there's a part of you that may want to mend the relationship, or at least come to a peaceful understanding, even if it's just within yourself. This is reflected in the hug with your father, which might not happen in real life but shows an internal conflict and desire for change.
Your dream indicates a deep emotional struggle intertwined with the hope of finding peace and emotional closure. Exploring these themes with a mental health professional could provide valuable support on your path to healing and reconciliation.
